Problems: How to build an engaging platform that simplifies access to unique historical info and encourages native contributions.
Challenges: Gathering information from remote areas, ensuring content quality, and building a reliable contributor network.
Solution: A platform leveraging native contributors for collecting unique, verified content on Iran's historical places.
Tools: Sketch, InVision, Microsoft Visio
Teams Engaged: Web Developers, UI Designers, Content Curators, Videographers
My Role: UX Designer, Content Strategist
Contribution: Oversaw the entire user-centric design process, starting from wireframing to high-fidelity prototyping, using tools like Sketch. Worked closely with content creators to strategize and curate culturally relevant and informative content, ensuring alignment with user needs and project goals.
Target Users: Tourists interested in Iran's history and culture
Research: Used Google Forms to gather data on what tourists seek when visiting historical sites in Iran, focusing on their cultural interests and information needs. Also conducted one-on-one interviews with native contributors to understand local perspectives, ensuring the platform would be both authentic and user-friendly.
Ideation: Incorporated innovative features such as Historical Geo-Tours for location-based storytelling, a Local Wisdom section for user-generated folklore reviews, and a Cultural Chameleon setting for dynamic multilingual support to enhance user engagement, accessibility, and overall experience on the platform.
Outcome: A dynamic, responsive, and culturally-sensitive platform with a growing, engaged community of contributors and users.
Usability Testing: Utilized advanced analytics tools to conduct A/B testing, comparing multiple design elements such as button placements, color schemes, and CTA text. Analyzed heatmaps to understand where users focus most on the platform. These insights guided data-driven adjustments to the site's visual hierarchy and navigational elements, optimizing the overall user journey for better engagement and conversion.
Collaboration: Bi-weekly Global Storyteller virtual roundtables with local contributors and team members ensured cohesive storytelling and operational agility.
Metrics of Success: Witnessed a 35% surge in active user exploration, a 20% uptick in crowd-sourced historical narratives, and a 15% climb in conversion rates—all within the inaugural quarter.
Impact and results: Thanks to the UX design strategies I implemented, Iranative evolved into a cultural compass and was recognized for its impact, winning the Hackatrip Awards for best user experience in travel and tourism.
